Heavy rains lasting for hours submerged parts of Cebu City, Talisay City, Minglanilla and Naga yesterday morning, causing damage to property and affecting hundreds of residents. Yet, even in the face of calamity the Filipino spirit endures.

It was a blustery Monday afternoon in this city by the bay when this carload of “dream chasers" breezed through.
The Zapps were zipping through Dumaguete!
Childhood sweethearts Herman and Candelaria Zapp of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with their children Pampa, 8, Tehue, 5, Paloma, 3 and Wallaby, 1 — all born in transit in different pockets of the world -— were on board their plucky 1928 Graham-Paige to spread their inspiring message of living your dream.
Silliman University invited them for a short talk on the grounds of its oldest building, Silliman Hall, and the gathering of students, alumni and city residents eagerly waited to welcome them as the vintage Graham-Paige entered the university’s Gates of Opportunity.
After a brief introduction of the family by eldest boy Pampa, Herman proceeded to mesmerize the crowd with snippets of their amazing journey (11 years this January), the intrinsic kindness of strangers who have helped them along the way (12,000 and counting), and their mantra: Spark. Chase. Realize your dreams!

Now that I am older, Loren, I know that you're always looking out for me and for the whole family from up above. I found these photos of us back in the day when I was at Lola's house in Bogo a couple of weeks ago. I miss hanging out with you. I still can't believe that its been 9 years to the day, time surely flies.
May you find peace always. Kuya"Don't forget, Miguel, wise men are simply those who've made all the mistakes... I promise you, I'm not as bitter as I seem. Well, perhaps only the truly bitter say that. But let me tell you one last thing. And this is important. I made a mistake. When I was young, I spent my days and nights trying to impress future generations. I spent them. They're gone. All because I was deathly afraid of being forgotten. And then came the regret. The worst thing among all worst things. But from that I gained a small fragment of wisdom. Purpose. Because the past will weigh a lot more once your future becomes shorter. And so, now I'm bargaining, begging, for just one last chance to bequeath a book about all the lessons I've learned painfully over the course of my life. Because it might just make everyone else's that tiny bit easier... You must learn this while you are still young. Live in the crux of the present. And write to explain the world to yourself and to others. Look forward only to the summer of your first convertible. Look forward only if what's in front of you is a mirror. Because one day, you'll be so busy looking backward, and everything will feel like winter. If you still don't get it, pare, let me make it abundantly clear. Just write, and write justly. Ezra Pound be damned. Poets lie, though beautifully. Don't make things new, make them whole."
